CAMPSIS
x tagliabuana ‘Indian Summer’ (Trumpet Vine) $18.95 Gallon
Sun to part sun / Zones 4 – 9 / Deer resistant
/ Hummingbird Attractor
This
beautiful new hybrid boasts yellow-orange blooms with an eye-popping red throat
that appear on new growth every summer. It is an ideal perennial vine for
quick cover on sturdy supports (vines become heavy with age). Although considered
less invasive than the species, ‘Indian Summer’ can become problematic
in a cultivated area, spreading by suckering underground runners.
CELASTRUS
scandens ‘Diana’ and ‘Hercules’ (American Bittersweet) $24.95
Gallon
Sun to part shade / Zones 3 – 8 / Deer
resistant
This species is
our north American native bittersweet, not to be confused with C. orbiculatus, the
Chinese bittersweet that is a rampant, invasive weed. American bittersweet is
a vigorous, twining, dioecious (plants are either male or female) vine growing
to 15 feet or more. The beautiful clusters of orange fruit are prized for
autumn decorating and coveted by birds. We offer containers with both male and female
plants, a total of two plants, one each ‘Diana’ and ‘Hercules’ for good fruit
set.

clematis wilt. Look for several mature specimens on display in our lath house,
spectacular in May and June! Prune them back hard in late winter.

FALLOPIA

This rare and beautiful golden leaved sport of the Silver Lace vine is slower
growing than the rampant species. I planted several on our lath house wall last

lovely thing, with late summer fluffy sprays of white flowers. This could be a
gorgeous container subject, grown as an annual, and trained on a wire obelisk.
